LARP calls on Lebanese to maintain Economic Stability

Press Release - Thursday, September 9, 2010  , Washington DC

Washington, D.C. - The Lebanese American Renaissance Partnership (LARP) urges all parties, factions and independents to come together and save the Lebanese people from any possible political setback that will negatively affect their economic well being and the economic stability that Lebanon has been enjoying recently. Any destabilization will put all international programs on hold causing the Lebanese citizens to lose new opportunities, comfort and stability.

LARP strongly urges members of the US Congress, the US Administration, The United Nations and the European Union to continue supporting Lebanon's sovereignty and independence by assisting the Lebanese legal authorities with 1. the necessary funding for the Lebanese Army and the security services in order to control the security and stability of the Lebanese people; 2. to provide the proper political and legal support to implement UNSC resolutions 1559, 1680 and 1701; 3. to immediately widen the deployment of the UNIFIL forces to the capital of Lebanon as the special tribunal start its deliberation on the political assassination of Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri and other assassinations thereby assisting the Lebanese Army in keeping law and order; 4. to help the Lebanese Army and the Lebanese police force to disarm all internal and external militias operating in Lebanon; 5. attaining the help of the United Nations, with the collaboration of the Palestinian authorities, to move the Palestinian camps out of Lebanon in an orderly and humanitarian way to their homeland; and / or to potentially receptive countries around the world that have immigration policies allowing full assimilation into the world community.

LARP is committed to supporting the civil society and civic institutions of Lebanon, to lifting up the spirit of the Lebanese people, and assisting the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and other agencies of the United States in their effort to promote economic growth and to foster peace, stability and democratic institutions in Lebanon in an effort to enhance the sovereignty and freedom of Lebanon.
